OK the new Metallica. Who really gives a fuck? They were pretty much ruined for me after I finally saw Some Kind Of Monster. Sorry I prefer my rock stars (at least ones from the 80’s-90’s to drunk drugged out extreme exhibitionist. Watching these guys cry about their feelings to a shrink destroyed the rock gawd illusion that was Metallica. I don’t care if these guys grew up grew old had families or what ever. They were supposed to be larger than life rock stars who have now ruined that illusion by exposing themselves as real people. With them never being able to write a song any deeper than a puddle of piss this really leaves them with no where to go. This album has been called a return to their roots, but having strayed so far from where they came from how is that even possible. Obviously I haven’t said anything about the actual album, but instead have just been attacking Metallica. Well I guess my opinion was summed up by the following email when acquiring the album:
Me: can you download the new Metallica album for me with your super secret no hassle internet connections. I don’t want to get fined by Metallica for downloading their shit.
JP: Didn’t know it was out, but I’ll snag it… I did pull up their site a month or so ago and it seemed pretty absurd… I’d believe they’re making 8-9 minute tracks again, but until I hear otherwise I’m gonna have to assume it’s 8-9 minutes of anus-fingering masturbation…
Still new Metallica does open the door to more of my favorite drunken party discussions: What is the best Metallica album of all time? This works on many levels because everyone in my age group is familiar with the band in one way or another. Also I get to discuss music which most people will refuse to talk about with me because I am kind of a snob about the subject. That and I just flat out believe that other people’s tastes are shit in compared to mine. Unless of course JP is there who also has good taste like me and comes up with great things to put into block quotes & post titles like anus-fingering masturbation.
