Yes, I am writing about BOOKS here. No I don’t fucking read, that makes me sleep. Thing is if you have talked to me for any extended period of time you will know that I LOVE audiobooks. I spend a lot of time in the car and although I enjoy PodCasts I really get excited for audiobooks. I even pay for them through Audible.
Tonight I just finished The Hunger Games series which I am extremely satisfied with. For the demographic that actually reads the shit I write IT IS THE RUNNING MAN WITH CHILDREN! Yeah that should spark your interest. Even though it is violent as hell: read “I went to the water to wash the monkey gore off my arrows” I am encouraging my 12 yr old child to read this. The book is written for the young adult demographic. Of course that is far from the demographic this blog is intended for, many of you have undoubtedly spawned those who fit this.
Why did I do I & why do I recommend it? Simply, people around me who enjoy young adult fiction highly recommend that. Yes, that includes my mom & so what fuck you I still listen to my mom & you should to asshole. Digress (obligatory use of big words to sound intelligent (while drunk)) young adults are reading shitty sparkly vampire fiction, yeah you know what I am talking about. FUCK THAT SHIT! The Hunger Games Series are though provoking, shocking, and through all the gore & violence have a great message about our society, the things we take for granted, and the government you choose to support.
Each of the 3 books is about 10hrs of listening or a weekend of reading if you get obsessed and are a fast reader. I did all 30 hour in bout 2 weeks. Now I spend about 2 hours in the car per work day give or take. Still I was so engaged with this story that I was listening while mowing the lawn, making dinner, and fuck I even used it as an excuse to dust off my treadmill so I could keep listening.
