Yahoo Plans to Kill Off Delicious Bookmarking Service

Yahoo Plans to Kill Off Delicious Bookmarking Service: “Delicious (Del.icio.us in its original incarnation) popularized tags as a more flexible alternative to folders, introduced us to the idea of following other users and helped kick off the ‘share it with the world’ trend that created today’s social websites like Twitter and Facebook.

This is very sad news for me. Del.icio.us had been essential to me for years now. You can view all of my bookmarks here. At least the ones I didn’t make private. I switch browsers quite often, have multiple computers, and do a lot of mobile browsing (there are a few iPhone Apps). Having my bookmarks in the cloud has been extremely convenient.

I bought a Pinboard account yesterday for $8.03, the price goes up every day. Before the Del.isio.us news they were only $6. This is a 1 time fee completely worth it to me. The service is importing my Del.icio.us bookmarks now.
